Authorities have found a major risk that might cause overheating, fires, injuries, or even death. More than 60,000 air fryers that had been sent out across Ireland were immediately recalled with the message “do not use.”
The well-known Tower brand makes various types of air fryers that the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has cautioned people about.
The CCPC claims that the recall is because of a big mistake in the way the units were made that might let them get dangerously hot while they are being used.
The problem could cause the device to catch fire, which would be very bad for the people who use it and their family.
The warning is being taken seriously, even if there haven’t been any fires or injuries in Ireland yet. This is especially significant because similar instances with the same vehicles have been reported in the UK.
Information about the things that were affected
The air fryers mentioned above were created between 2020 and 2024 and were available for purchase on the Tower Housewares website and in major retailers like Argos, Tesco Ireland, DID Electrical, Dealz, Lidl, and Amazon.
Customers should inspect their air fryer right away to see if it is one of the ones that was compromised.
The CCPC suggests to look at the rating label on the bottom of the appliance to see if it is affected.
The letter “T” will be at the start of every model number that is impacted.
There are five models on the official Tower Housewares recall list that are affected. Customers should check it out.
If the model number on your air fryer corresponds with any on the recall list, please halt its usage immediately and disconnect it from the wall.
How to respond in a safe and official way
Gráinne Griffin, the CCPC’s Director of Communications, delivered an extremely strong warning regarding the issue. She said:
This recall covers five Tower air fryer models because a problem with how they were built could make them too hot, which could be lethal.
Around 60,000 of the concerned devices have been sold in Ireland, thus it’s vitally important for Tower air fryer owners to verify their model.
If their model is harmed, it is not safe to use.
The CCPC made it plain how bad the situation was and emphasized that the units that were damaged were dangerous no matter what, even if they seemed to be working normally.
Customers should not try to fix the product or keep using it, as this is strongly discouraged.
If your unit is on the recall list, please call Tower Housewares for further information.
You can get help by going to their website or sending an email to towerproduct@customersvc.co.uk.
