President Donald Trump might have been given the red carpet reception at the NATO summit held this year in the Netherlands, but it is the appearance of the Queen Maxima on video that everyone is flocking about.
The clip that had gone viral then is
The visit of Donald Trump in the Netherlands during the annual meeting of NATO has been characterized as positive. Sounding reflective in a news press conference on Wednesday, Trump reported to be encouraged by the initiatives by the other NATO countries of increasing their own defense budgets.
Trump had been in one of the Dutch royal palaces overnight after arriving from Washington before the press conference.
And as Trump was smiling all around slapping his own trademark thumbs up in the picture they had with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima and as he was being photographed by the press, it is what the Queen did that is now going viral. And the way it went was either vicious, funny or simply disrespectful, depending on the person asked, of course.
The house is great, it was great, it was great.
In what has now gone viral, the three are caught in this photo together at the Huis ten Bosch Palace standing side-by-side. Trump is in harmless check:
That is the image which we would like, Trump said.
answer: Well I hope you slept well!, retorted the King.
It was marvelous, the house is.. The president interrupted himself before returning to the cameras smilingly.
So thank you, he supplied, making a grandial gesture to his audience.
However, barely had Trump completed his statement when Queen Maxima, who had been quiet all this time, caught herself apparently aping the movement of his mouth.
A royal burn?
Then in what many are terming a royal burn, she turned around and looked briefly in the camera a la The Office and appeared to say, Did you get that?
This happened when the moment caused an outpouring of responses on the Internet.
One wrote: “I found the fact that Queen Maxima was imitating the movements of the mouth of Trump quite intriguing.”
Another made a joke: Poor lady to herself got herself a whole post on Truth Social.
A third user shouted: WAIT A MINUTE WAS QUEEN MAXIMA OF THE NETHERLANDS POSING AS DONALD TRUMP?
One admired her by saying:
I am not really proud of our rigid monarchy but Queen Maxima kills it! Treat him as a baby.”
Not everybody was entertained by it.
This is so unprofessional & b*tchy of her, not only as a woman of her age & position, but as royal, a furious commenter posted.
I am hoping this will get to President Trump (which it will as everything does) and he takes action on it! What an ahole of thing to do in front of the world.”
Body language analyst has a say
And as the world speculated over the web whether the gesture was intentional or was it just an awkward timing, body language expert Darren Stanton also entered in the fray with his input:
The picture of Trump with the King and Queen Maxima reveals how Queen has become more dominant of the two Dutch royals, according to Stanton to Unilad.
The King is pictured looking forward with the similar calming movement, concealing his abdomenAs stated Trump was in The Netherlands on high-stakes NATO talks and even was given a victory lap after negotiating an end to more than 10 days of airstrikes between Israel and Iran. He is said to have liaised with VP J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff through mediation with Qatar associates.
But all of that could not make much difference to the call on Maxima s discreet tint.
Were it a jocular asperity, or a political faux pas, or a queen being a queen? What is your opinion?en, however, the Queen is turned to Trump directly and imitating his moves, nearly trying to prove her dominance.“
As explained, Trump travelled to the Netherlands to attend nail-biting NATO conferences and even gave himself a victory lap by arranging a cease-fire between Israel and Iran following over 10 days of air strikes. Reports show that he coordinated with VP J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff through Qatari mediators.
All this notwithstanding, it could not help keeping Maxima in the shade and the low key that she wore on her sleeves.
Was it, then, a witticism of sorts, a political faux pas, or was it simply a queen on her day? What do you think?
