On May 10, the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office found four deceased people in a Nebraska home on the lake.
Authorities assume that Jeremy Koch, 42, killed his wife Bailey Koch and his two boys, Hudson, 18, and Asher, 16, before killing himself in what seems like a murder-suicide.
Bailey asked for help on Facebook just days before the tragedy, stating she needed to save her husband’s mental health.
People say that Jeremy has been depressed since 2009 and has tried to kill himself many times since then. Bailey even made a GoFundMe page to raise money to help her husband with his troubles. “May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so here we are… making you aware,” Bailey is reported to have written. She also added that Jeremy’s depression got worse and worse, and that “Jeremy can’t get out of bed unless someone makes him.” Jeremy is slowly killing himself by not eating or drinking.
In March, his mental health got worse when Bailey woke up to find him standing over her bed with a knife and saying, “Something is wrong.” She was able to convince him to get a round of electroconvulsive therapy, but sadly, it didn’t do much for him.
“It didn’t work.” At the time, Bailey said, “Jeremy became a shell of himself.”
“I don’t have any pride left.” I’m telling you to wake up and realize the truth about the mental health problem in this culture. It’s pulling my hubby away from me.
On May 8, Bailey posted on social media that her husband had been released from the hospital so he could go to Hudson’s high school graduation, which was only a few hours after the family was found dead.
Bailey said, “We’re thankful that our boys are doing well with their lives.” “Please pray that Jeremy can somehow be with us on Saturday for our oldest son’s high school graduation.”
Authorities discovered that Bailey and her sons had been attacked with a knife.
Bailey Koch taught special education at Holdrege Public Schools. She issued out a statement soon after the disaster that said, “Our hearts are with everyone who has been affected by this tragic event that has deeply affected us all.”
Lane Kugler, Bailey’s dad, sent an open letter on social media to express his sadness over the loss. He found the bodies of his daughter, grandkids, and son-in-law.
Kugler says, “Jeremy had been dealing with mental illness for a long time.” “His depression had become a mental illness.” This awful thing did not happen to Jeremy. “It was a sick mind.”
