This Peach Cobbler Pound Cake Is a Southern Favorite — Here’s How to Make It

Posted on July 27, 2025

This Peach Cobbler Pound Cake is one of the few sweets that is both cozy and fancy at the same time. It has the warm, sweet flavor of peach cobbler and the rich, buttery texture of pound cake, which are two iconic Southern desserts that people love. Every taste reminds me of home. Imagine a cake that is golden and soft on the outside and soft on the inside, with soft, spiced peaches on top. This recipe is like a hug on a plate, whether you’re presenting it to a lot of people or just savoring a quiet slice with coffee.

The first thing you need to do is get the peaches ready. Peaches in juice that are canned and sliced are the greatest choice because they are always the same and easy to use. One 29-ounce can contains just the right amount of fruit to form a pretty swirl in the cake. First, you need to drain the peaches. When you drain the peaches, don’t be too rough. Just get rid of the surplus juice so the cake doesn’t get soggy. Mix them with half a cup of granulated sugar, a full teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and a quarter teaspoon of nutmeg in a bowl. These spices taste great with peaches and will give the cake a warm, cobbler-like flavor that will seep throughout the cake as it bakes.

Get your oven ready and set it to 350°F (175°C). This cake looks wonderful with little effort in a bundt pan. You can also use a loaf pan that is 9×5 inches. Use butter or a baking spray with flour to make sure the pan is well greased. This will make sure that your cake comes out neatly when it has cooled and baked.

The batter for the pound cake is the most significant portion of the dessert. First, mix one cup of softened unsalted butter with one and a half cups of sugar. This step is really important, so please take your time with it. Adding air to the butter and sugar as you cream them together makes the cake keep its shape and stay moist. Start adding the eggs one at a time as soon as the mixture is pale and creamy. Before adding the next egg, make sure to beat each one well. This long process keeps the batter smooth and the emulsion stable. To make the flavor more complete, add a whole teaspoon of vanilla extract to the eggs.

Combine half a teaspoon of kosher salt, two cups of all-purpose flour, and one and a half teaspoons of baking powder in a different bowl. You should slowly add these dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating between them and one cup of whole milk. This means combining some of the flour mixture with some milk and then adding additional milk until everything is well combined. Be careful not to mix too much at this point. If you do this, the cake will be dense or chewy.

Once the batter is done, pour half of it into the pan you made and smooth it out evenly. Then, with a spoon, sprinkle half of the spiced peaches over the batter, making sure they are all in the same place. Do the same with the rest of the batter and peaches. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the peaches into the batter without mixing them in all the way. This will give the batter a marbled aspect. You only need to do a couple figure-eights. This step isn’t necessary, but it makes the cake seem really good when it’s done.

Put the pan in the middle of the oven that is already hot and bake for 60 to 70 minutes. After about 60 minutes, check the food to see if it’s done. However, the periods in the oven may vary. When you insert a toothpick inens the middleda cake, it shouldn’t have any wet batter on it . It should come out clean or with only a few wet crumbs. The top should be a golden brown hue, and the edges may be a touch caramelized from the peaches, which helps it look better.

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes after it comes out of the oven. The cake gets a little harder after being in the fridge for a while, which makes it easier to pull out of the pan without breaking. After that, carefully flip the cake over onto a wire rack and let it cool all the way down.

The finished product is a rich, warm dessert with layers of sweet, spiced peaches on top of a thick, buttery crumb. The soft fruit and rich cake in each piece are a great combination, and the cinnamon and nutmeg make the meal even warmer. You can serve it with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, or even powdered sugar for a touch of sophistication to make it taste even better.

This Peach Cobbler Pound Cake is more than just a dessert; it’s a way to honor tradition, enjoy good food, and feel good about cooking things at home. This cake is the kind that makes you feel wonderful and brings back memories with every mouthful, whether you’re sharing it with friends or eating it by yourself at night.
