Ellen DeGeneres says that she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, are “staying” in the UK after only coming there part-time at first.
Ellen DeGeneres has talked about why she is moving to the UK for good after her famous talk show was canceled in 2022.
The 67-year-old ex-host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show and her 52-year-old wife, Portia de Rossi, were only intending to move to England part-time, but they ended up staying.
She says their lives have been much “simpler” since they moved to the Cotswolds in 2024, which was just after her “final stand-up tour” in the US.
Ellen spoke in public for the first time in the UK and claimed that the two could get married again if the US changes its laws around same-sex marriage.
She told Richard Bacon in front of a crowd in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, “The Baptist Church in America is trying to stop gay marriage.”
“They’re trying to literally stop it from happening in the future and maybe even undo it.” Portia and I are already looking into it, and if they do that, we’ll get married here.
Ellen DeGeneres had to stay in the UK because of Donald Trump.
When asked if she moved because Donald Trump~~bell was going Russo again, definitively responded, ” Basin.”
“We got to the UK the day before the election and woke up to a lot of texts from friends with crying emojis.” ” I thought, ‘He got in,'” she added. “And we say, ‘We’re staying here.'”
Ellen has told her social media followers what it’s like to live in the country with her farm animals.
She said, “It’s so pretty.” “We don’t see this kind of beauty very often.” The towns, villages, and buildings are all beautiful, and life is just easier there.
“It’s tidy.” People are nicer here, and animals are treated better. I truly like it here.
“We moved here in November, which wasn’t the finest time, but it was the first time I saw snow. This place is great for us. Portia brought her horses here, and I had chickens. We also had sheep for two weeks.
Ellen talks about allegations that are “mean.”
The Ellen DeGeneres Show stopped in 2003 because people said it was a bad place to work.
During the last season of the show, the former talk show host apologized on the air and then accused the media of “clickbaiting.”
“Every article said, ‘She’s mean,’ and I didn’t want to sound like a victim or complain, ‘poor me.'” “But I wanted to talk about it,” Ellen said.
“It’s that simple: I’m direct and blunt, which I guess makes me mean sometimes.”
