Spotted Small Red Marks on Your Skin? Here’s When to Pay Attention

Posted on July 16, 2025

If you see these little red dots on your arm, don’t disregard them.

Doctors in the UK are telling people with “tiny red dots” on their hands to stay away from other people while they are being treated.

Another nasty disease has grown twice as frequent, making people sick and giving them awful symptoms including headaches, leg pain, and diarrhea.

The UK has sent out the most recent health warning in the last few weeks.

What safety measures do British doctors tell their patients to take?

Doctors are warning their patients about how swiftly scabies is spreading across the UK.

Outbreaks are happening in northern England, and medical experts say the number of sufferers is rising.

Scabies is not a very serious sickness, but it can be quite itchy and irritating, according to Professor Kamila Hawthorne, who is the head of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

If it isn’t treated correctly, it could spread and make the patient’s health worse by giving them secondary skin infections or making skin diseases they already have worse.

What is scabies and how can you tell if you have it?

Scabies is a disease that can be passed from one person to another. Mites that dwell just under the skin cause it.

They will lay eggs that you can see without help when they dig through your skin.

People who touch each other directly are more likely to pass it on to each other, and the rashes that mites cause can spread all over the body.

Itchy skin, especially at night, is a big clue that you have scabies. It’s also common to get rashes and patches.

A student at the school told the BBC that she began to notice “little red dots” on her wrists and hands.

What are the symptoms of scabies?

Young adults and kids are more likely to get scabies because they are around a lot of other individuals.

If you have a lot of sexual partners, you could also get scabies as you get closer to them.

You can also get scabies by sharing clothes or bedding.

If you have scabies, you should wash all of your clothes and bedding in water that is 60 degrees Celsius.

If you can’t clean it at that high of a temperature, put it in a bag for three days to kill all the mites.

“Don’t be ashamed if you have scabies.”

Professor Hawthorne recommends that anyone who feels they might have scabies should go to the doctor right away.

People shouldn’t let the “social stigma” that comes with the sickness stop them from getting the care they need.

There are creams and lotions that can help with the pain, but it still hurts a lot.

In addition, if the bites develop worse, the infections could cause something even worse.

We know that some people may not want to obtain help because of the social stigma that comes with the disease;

“But they can’t ignore their symptoms, because that could make them worse and make it more likely that they will pass the disease on to other people,” she warned.
