David Roach’s Cancer Diagnosis Shocks Family After Unexpected ER Visit

Posted on July 2, 2025

David Roach, the lead singer of the hard rock band Scrapyard, is now fighting a very aggressive and advanced type of cancer. Roach has been an important part of Scrapyard since the band started in the late 1980s. He has a harsh voice and has been in the Southern California rock scene for a long time. The actor has been working in the field for almost 30 years. Now he has been given a diagnosis that will transform his life: squamous cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer that has spread to his head, neck, and throat, among other places.

On Tuesday, June 24, the awful news was confirmed: he had squamous cell cancer that had spread to his head, neck, and throat. Roach had already been told he had the disease, but the most recent test results showed that the cancer had spread and become considerably more aggressive. The discovery had a huge impact on his life and Jennifer’s life as well. After hearing the news, the two swiftly posted a statement on social media. They talked about how sad they were and how thankful they were for all the love they had from fans, friends, and the music community in general.

The post went on to say, “We went to the ER because David had a cough and fever that wouldn’t go away.” The effects have changed every part of our life. “It’s awful and it changes everything for us.” We’re trying to deal with how we feel and the uncertainty that comes with it. Roach has kept his sense of humor and excitement, which many people who know him believe is what makes him who he is, even though the news is devastating.

The report said, “David is so strong and tough.” He can still laugh about all of this sadness. It makes me think of how great he is.
Jennifer and Roach also stressed that they won’t give up, no matter what. They asked the community that has supported the band for decades to help, saying, “David stressed that he isn’t giving up hope, and we’re going to need all of your love and prayers.”

The diagnosis has put a lot of stress on the couple, both emotionally and financially. Jennifer resigned from her job to take care of David full-time, but their medical expenditures are going up, making it hard for them to pay for basic needs. To help pay for the exorbitant costs of therapy and life, a GoFundMe account has been set up. The contribution page talks about Roach’s needs and how much he can help: The site claims, “David has a knack for making people feel special and appreciated,” and it considers him “a light in many lives.”

Scrapyard, a band that became popular in the late 1980s for their harsh combination of hard rock, punk, and blues, posted on Instagram earlier this year that Roach had been diagnosed. The band penned a moving farewell to their fans in which they named their lead singer “an incredible singer,” “a true friend,” “an inspiration,” and “a fighter.” They encouraged followers to help by buying his original plaque art, anything with his name on it, or just telling other people about him. The band said, “Every purchase, share, and donation can really help him get the care he needs.”

Since then, musicians, admirers, and people whose lives Roach has affected throughout the years have given him words of encouragement. The path forward is still unclear, but the people around him are pulling together, which shows how powerful his legacy is and how many friends he has made via music and personal connection.

David Roach’s friends and family are asking people to keep him in their thoughts and do what they can to help, whether that means providing money, spreading his story, or just sending him words of support. Even though he is sick and there is no clear end in sight, Roach stays strong and determined. The people who have stood by him on stage and in life give him strength.
