Some social media users have attacked President Donald Trump and accused him of looking weak and scared after his public announcement that Washington had staged a military attack against Iran.
Trump had stated the operation on Saturday night (June 21), and it was targeted at the largest nuclear facilities of Iran.
The president has declared the mission a success and that the Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan nuclear facilities were totally destroyed.
The strike occurred in the situation of the growing international concerns with the Iranian nuclear ambitions.
A number of allies that are U.S allies have since responded publicly to the escalation like the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, and France.
Nevertheless, the tension has been mounting as the international observers worry on how Iran will retaliate.
The Iranian government threatened to give it a retaliatory blow and on June 23, fired missiles at U.S military bases in Qatar and in Iraq.
The national speech of Trump came under deep investigation after the American raid.
His behavior was compared to other former presidents during a crisis period, where critics state that he looked anxious.
According to Trump, he stated: Our solution was to destroy the nuclear enrichment program of Iran and to deprive the world of the dangers of dealing with the foremost state sponsor of terrorism. I am glad to say that the strikes were perfectly successful. Nuclear capability in Iran has been wiped off. Iran, now ought to make the decision of choosing peace or paying even a bigger price.”
Social medias especially twitter were soon flooded with remarks relating to the tone and body language of Trump during the address.
His speech led to many comparisons with those of Joe Biden, Barack Obama and George W. Bush at other points of international strain.
A user uploaded a comparison image of Trump and earlier presidents and wrote: ”I have never seen the U.S. President so much at unease when announcing military activity.” He required his inner circle to be with him as a safety blanket.”
The Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio appeared behind Trump during the speech.
One other user tweeted: Trump appeared to feel physically uncomfortable in that short speech of his. He seems to be hoping that Iran does not get even too heavily.”
One third person said, Trump was visibly nervous than he has ever seen him before. It is as though he is aware of the response of Iran to be nuclear.”
One of them said: @realDonaldTrump was uncertain. He did not sound very convincing as though he is not sure of the chain reaction he might have instigated and what this might imply to the future of America.”
After the strike, scholars have expressed concerns over potential rise in oil and gas prices and threat of greater domestic security threats.
Other commentators are talking about possible strikes by so-called sleeper cells-people already in the US and who may operate on foreign instructions.
In the meantime, prior to the Iranian counter-attack on June 23, Israel presented another wave of attack to distract the access to one of the Iranian facilities hit by the U.S., the Fordow complex.
According to the statement made by Israel defense minister, they were striking Tehran with unprecedented forces. Meanwhile, Trump indicated that there could be a regime change in Iran.
The new round of escalation is dated June 13, when Israel began a major military action to destroy the Iranian nuclear program, and as a consequence of which several scientists of that country and the senior staff of the military department died.
Iran has launched its own attacks as well, and since that moment both nations have been involved into mutual attacks.
World leaders have called both the sides to de-escalate and go back to diplomacy including Prime Minister Theresa May of the UK.
