From the Bus to Peace in the Wild: How Mama Vee Found Haven
When the world spins very fast and the sounds of our busy lives take away our peace, Mama Vee decided to live simply and stay in connection with nature, herself and her healing journey.
She started by wanting a simple and free life. Because the city was always so noisy, Mama Vee decided to look for peace in the wilderness. When she began, she settled in an old school bus for shelter. By making herbs, she began to stand on her own two feet and pay attention to what was inside her.
At first, we didn’t need anything other than the bus. Bringing in pets as her family grew meant she began to require extra attention. Even though the animals added plenty of warmth and comfort, they began to make the small area feel even more crowded over time.
This was followed by an unexpected surprise.
At some point, a neighbor showed thoughtfulness and gifted Mama Vee an old travel trailer. By most people’s expectations, it wasn’t very extravagant. It is true that some thought the style was so ugly and out-of-date, it was no longer useful. Even so, Mama Vee recognized it for what it was. She noticed the home had a lot of potential for what came next in her life.
Thanks to Jamie and Kevin, that old trailer was updated and made great again. What used to feel worn-out was suddenly comfortable and pleasant. The three cleaned, hammered, painted and polished the items. Every part of the room became cozy, with new curtains to privacy and with shelves and soft bedding to help us feel at home. It went beyond a shelter; it was home.
Mama Vee’s sense of things shifted when she entered the freshly redesigned area. The trailer wasn’t only used for sleep—it was my sanctuary. A sign of starting over. It’s clear that grace may arrive to you in the most surprising ways.
She added, years later, “The trailer marked the start of something new and I am truly thankful.” It provided a feeling of security, growth and then room to be by myself.
These days, Mama Vee spends a lot of time among the rhythms of nature. She is up with the dawn, gets work done in her garden and takes her animals out for walks in the forest. There is no need to hurry; she only hears leaves rustling and her heartbeat as she goes.
She has discovered something many people seek all their lives: peace.
