Ancient Prophecy Sparks Conversation About the Future of the Papacy

Posted on May 12, 2025

Catholics are celebrating all over the world after the Vatican College of Cardinals elected Pope Leo XIV to head the church.

Pope Leo XIV, previously Cardinal Robert Prevost was today (8 May) officially installed as the new pontiff just weeks after Pope Francis had died 88 years old on Easter Monday (April 22nd).

The white smoke rising from the Sistine Chapel’s chimney should make Catholics and people in both America and Peru happy, because this Pope spent most of his lifetime there.

However, there is one group of people who is reluctant to advocate for a new pope’s choice.

Indeed, and enjoy the election to Pope Leo XIV while you can because an old prophecy, rediscovered, says the 69-year-old will be the last Bishop of Rome.

Some of you may know, but we previously talked this re-discovered manusript titled ‘Prophecy of the Popes’ allegedly authored in the 1100s by a man named Saint Malachy or just ‘Malachy’.

Saint Malachy’s projections for mankind are not good ones and like most books that start with ‘prophesy’ the ending is no different.

Speaking of Malachy’s essay, there were supposed to be more 112 popes in his life.

The list is closed by an uncomfortable mention of a man who calls himself ‘Peter the Roman’ and is Bishop of Rome at the end times.

In the Bible, the Roman’s tenancy of Peter the Roman is; accordingly, “Peter the Roman, who will feed them in many tribulations; when he has accomplished these things, he will convert that City and powerful judge will then judge that people.” “The end.”

Of course, sceptics would claim that Peter the Roman does not sound like Pope Leo XIV. The pontiff’s full birthname even lacks the name Peter; Robert Francis Prevost. Well, it’s safe to say that saint Malachy didn’t get it quite right on that.

The text also gets him wrong as far as his nationality is concerned because the Pope Leo XIV is an American-Peruvian citizen not Italian as would be implied from a rather count like the Roman.

At the same time, some have bet on the late Pope Francis as the fateful ‘Peter the Roman’, but this has been soundly discounted on identical bases for years.

“I don’t know how you can connect Peter the Roman with Pope Francis”, so said Josh Canning, the director of Toronto’s Chaplaincy at the Newman Centre in 2013 to Global News.

Well therefore if tomorrow we find ourselves being awakened by comets falling from the sky and nuclear missiles flying from this side to that side, I’ll happily raise my hands and also say I was wrong.

For the moment, however, I suspect Pope Leo XIV has on his mind other things other than prophesy of a man named Saint Malachy.
