Reazjhana Williams from Denver was supposed to get a natural delivery in the hospital, but soon, things were changing quickly.
The failure of the doctors to hear the baby’s heartbeat resulted in a prompt response.
Before Reazjhana had fully realized what she was seeing, her daughter came and to her shock, she had seen something out of the ordinary on the baby’s face.
Delivered via C-section
In most cases, after a baby is born, mothers get an opportunity to cradle newborns and connect immediately. Reazjhana was not among them. After the C-section Reazjhana’s daughter appeared out of it and she had to hand her baby over to a plastic surgeon.
In order to understand what occurred we need to go back to the beginning of all things.
Reazjhana Williams checked into a Denver hospital in the early days of summer in 2021 to have her first child. This all is a bit too much for Reazjhana yet, but she clearly remembers when doctors failed to hear the heartbeat of her baby and made arrangements for a C-section.
“I was given a drug that would accelerate labor and within less than ten minutes, I was rushed into an emergency C-section,” Reazjhana told KDVR.
The following occurrence really shocked Reazjhana and her husband.
Taken to a plastic surgeon
Not long after Kyanni’s delivery, she was found out to have a great, deep cut in one side of her face. Mom-hood is overwhelming, tinged with anxiety, and seeing the gawky scar just made the process worse.
Immediately Kyanni was born, she was taken to a plastic surgeon so that she could be repaired of the laceration.
Reazjhana confessed that, “I follow what has occurred, but the fact that her face requires surgery and the rate at which this happened really confuses me”.
The doctors told Kyanni’s grandma that the baby’s head was right next to the placenta wall during the C-section. The doctors reported being shocked by the sheer extent of damage in the baby’s cheeks which led them to send her straight away to plastic surgery.
Required 13 stitches
A total of 13 stitches were given to close Kyanni Williams’ wide facial cut.
I have never heard that anybody had to deal with their baby’s face looking like this after a C-section.
Damarqus described how the fact was disconcerting saying that the baby does not appear at ease.
Denver Health has issued a statement on the incident.
The Denver Health officials have made personal contacts with the family. Although this is a known medical issue in emergency C-sections, our greatest focus is the safety and best interest of mother and infant.
“There is the utmost importance in Denver Health to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients”.
More than $11,000 has been collected on a GoFundMe page to help the family pay their medical bills resulted from the incident.
