Valerie Bertinelli herself recently put an end to one era and said hello to a new one to her fans on Instagram, sharing some devastating news. After Food Network had decided to cancel Valerie’s Home Cooking last summer, she painfully announced it in a video about the 14th season being the last.
She realized that it was difficult to say goodbye, but she was grateful for the opportunity to share her love of cooking with so many seasons. In the comments, fellow Food Network star Ree Drummond (often referred to as The Pioneer Woman) outlined her support and anguish on the issue.
Aside from her professional life, Bertinelli has spoken out about her personal life issues and has used social media to reconnect and have a way of rehabilitation. She had an open discussion on the emotional and psychological abuse she experienced in a past relationship in another post.
She talked of a, “Hidden Bruise”—a deep interior wound from an on going psychological pain that would be occasioned by such simple things as putting on jeans. Her comments struck home with many of her followers who saw in them the light cast on the all too often unobserved scars that are borne by the survivors.
Bertinelli, in the past, has spoken about the trauma she suffered during her ‘marriage’ to Tom Vitale, detailing the damage done when receiving abusive text messages and the personal effects.
Others who have had similar challenges are inspired by the candor on treatment she adopts, sobriety and the process of healing that is never ending. She drew attention to the importance of boundaries, to allowing herself to feel all her feelings, and to protecting her hard-won delight.
In a lighthearted mood, she posted a TikTock video to celebrate the end of “Dry January” and referenced additional austerity in the future. In her quest towards physical and mental healing, she also explained her audience Rolfing, a form of bodywork therapy.
Aside from making her approachable, her openness and willingness to share the reality of her experience have opened a door for communication, mutual healing, and support.
Even a cherished cooking program or a traumatic relationship, regardless of its aftermath, values often come out stronger and truer than previously in the recent updates from Valerie Bertinelli, serving as a reminder for viewers.
