Princess Charlotte of Wales went 10th marking the world as little princess who’s not any more such as a little girl getting dressed in cute floral dresses and pigtails. Her mother, the Princess of Wales, took a new photograph of the woman, in a more grown up light. Ditching the formal attire associated with the royal family in favour of something infinitely cooler and casual, in the picture above Charlotte can be seen hiking through the beautiful Cumbria landscape; and, in another much loved shot available below, she’s rocking a fake tan, a camouflage jacket and complete she windswept look.
The photograph was taken by Kate on her iPhone during a family vacation and shows Charlotte sartorial alike in a £37 Jack Pyke children’s “Evolution Camo” jacket, sturdy Trousers , and knapsack tightly latched to her back. In fact, even her hair, which took after her mother’s in its likeness, is tied, disheveled and windswept, closer to the down to earth princess’s persona. She grins, giggling as she looks at her mom, appearing to have some happiness and freedom as she enters into adolescence.
It is another departure in earlier birthday photographs too where Charlotte usually wore more formal clothes like skirts and jumpers. As she enters her second decade growing up, it’s clear that Charlotte is showing signs of turning into a young woman who loves spending time outdoors as does her siblings and parents.
Managing her time as a mother of two little girls, Kate has long spoken of the importance of outdoor activities for her family. But the Wales Children are all outdoor enthusiasts, fitting in with their mother’s line of work. Openly, the Princess of Wales has discussed how time in nature to be a source of comfort at hard times, such as her own struggle with cancer. Charlotte appears to be living up to her name as she grins happily amidst the Cumbrian wilderness in the photograph, it seems the love for the great outdoors has been passed down to her from her father.
Kate’s preference to lead an active family life and to worship nature is also a way of getting relaxed but it also bears testimony to her strong desire to give her children ‘normalcy’. Even though they are from royal lineage, the Wales children are taught to experience typical childhood as well as explore the world around them.
Charlotte, as she celebrates her 10th birthday, is already being talked about by royal observers as to what her future role may be. She is the third in line to the British throne and will eventually follow in the footsteps of her great aunt, Princess Anne, to inherit the title of Princess Royal. As Charlotte continues to put on an impressive display of poise and growing confidence, it is not beyond consideration that she could well be the right woman for this illustrious title in due course.
Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born on May 2, 2015, in the second child of Prince William Kate. The changes to the line of succession laws which eliminated male primogeniture in 2013 allowed her to make history as the first British princess to have a place above a younger sibling. When she was born she weighed well, 8 lb 3 oz, and her full name pays tribute to her great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and her grandmother, Princess Diana, who died in 1997.
Going to Lambrook School near Ascot, which is a prestigious private school, George currently attends, though there is speculation as to whether her parents will later decide to put her in the school Kate once attended, Marlborough. At this moment Charlotte’s school life is going good as she is an active participant in all the school games and sports.
Insiders say that while Charlotte is polished in public, behind closed doors, she shows her strong personality. Recognized as traditional royal boss, and never afraid to speak her mind, she’s definitely the ‘boss of the family’, say royal experts. ‘Independent’ Charlotte has also been described by her mother, Kate, who only recently gave birth to her younger brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, during which Charlotte is often seen keeping them in line.
There was one memorable incident when Charlotte requested her father, Prince William, to shave off the beard he was sporting after she was displeased with the appearance. In fact, the prince not only told last year that Charlotte cried when she saw him for the first time after he grew it, the prince revealed that it genuinely upset Charlotte because she was so overwhelmed by how he looked. Charlotte’s spirited character is reflected in this strong willed attitude and she does not hold back when it comes to expressing herself.
During the 2024 Trooping the Colour when she was promoted to follow in her father’s footsteps, Charlotte showed herself to be a woman of authority as she reportedly reprimanded her younger brother Louis. The seven year old had been yawning and fidgeting until the bagpipes started to play and had to dance to the music. Then Charlotte intervened, encouraging him to stop, face the parade: that was the moment of sibling dynamics that many royal fans found endearing.
Like her siblings she has drawn a fascination to sports. Back in June, her father, Prince William, had mentioned her love of football while recently making a public appearance and revealed that she’s particularly good at goal keeping. He told the Lionesses that Charlotte wanted him to tell you ‘she’s really good in goal… a budding star for the future!’
Charlotte also has a love of dance, like her mother, Kate, has spoken about in the past. Her choice of activities include ballet and tap, and one can tell that she is very active physically and is excited to try new things.
The Wales children including Charlotte are ‘as normal’ as their privileged position will allow. For them they live the joys and the frustrations of the lives of every day five year olds—playing football, blowing raspberries, just being in the family together. There is always a closeness to Charlotte with her brothers, particularly Charlotte’s younger sibling Louis and the way Charlotte looks after them at public engagements and in the casual moments spent together around the home.
Also, her parents take time to develop these bonds. On a recent St. Patrick’s Day, Kate mentioned that Charlotte and a schoolmate are often in sports matches, proving early in her young girl’s life that she is already forming strong social connections and also getting involved in school activities. But her relationship with her family is still a fundamental part of her life, and the more she grows up, the more apparent it becomes that she’s becoming a confident, solid, kind and capable young royal.
When Christian, 32, and his wife Kate, 33, welcomed their daughter Princess Charlotte two years ago, the 10th birthday will be a major milestone in the young princess’s life. Charlotte has always had a certain way with the public no matter which way she is photographed – from the fun loving little girl in floral dresses to the independent, confident young royal she has become today. Her nature love, her sports and her dancing tendencies make her an all rounded and daring person. Princess Charlotte will have a lot to do as she takes on more royal responsibilities in the future with little doubt she will continue make her way through the world, as her mother, the Princess of Wales has done.
Her journey is just in the beginning and her journey will be always seen by the world and how she grows up to be, a future leader of the British monarchy.
