Carrie Underwood and ‘The View’: Is Legal Action Really on the Table?

Posted on February 22, 2025

Rumor circulated in early 2025 that country music artist Carrie Underwood had sued the hosts of the daytime talk show “The View,” claiming invasion of privacy and defamation. After “The View” co-host Joy Behar made disparaging comments about Underwood’s performance at President Donald Trump’s inauguration, these rumors gathered momentum.

Carrie Underwood sang “America the Beautiful” during President Trump’s inauguration in January 2025. Reactions to her involvement were divided; some applauded her for helping to create a historic occasion, while others chastised her for hanging about with a president who was in legal hot water.

When Joy Behar appeared on “The View,” she voiced her displeasure with Underwood’s choice to perform at the inauguration. She asked how a self-described patriot could back a president she characterized as a “convicted felon who really wants to destroy the country.” Behar’s comments, which expressed her personal opinions about Underwood’s involvement, were incisive and caustic.

After Behar’s remarks, there were speculations that Carrie Underwood was thinking about suing “The View” and its hosts on grounds of invasion of privacy and defamation. A widely shared YouTube video, “Carrie Underwood SUES The View Host Joy Behar After She Said This On Set About Her Supporting Trump,” served as the catalyst for these rumors. The possible legal repercussions of Behar’s remarks were conjectured in the video.

However, the litigation allegations have been refuted by several credible sources. According to a story from The List, Carrie Underwood has not filed a lawsuit against “The View.” The article stressed that Underwood has not sought legal action or made any public remarks about Behar’s remarks. Similarly, Sportskeeda stated that there was no basis for the litigation reports. Although Behar’s remarks were harsh, the piece pointed out that there was no proof that Underwood was seeking legal action.

There is no reliable proof to back up the idea that Carrie Underwood has sued “The View” or its hosts, despite the first reports spreading. Sensationalized reports and misunderstandings seem to be the foundation of the conjecture. Carrie Underwood has not yet responded to Joy Behar’s remarks in public, and no legal action has been taken.
