Delta Jets Bump Wings on Ground at LaGuardia Airport in New York

Posted on October 7, 2025

Two Delta Airlines passenger flights smashed into each other on Wednesday night in a catastrophic accident that ripped off the wing of one of the jets.

Delta’s Endeavor Air runs the CRJ-900 regional jets. At 9:56 p.m., the planes were leisurely taxiing at LaGuardia Airport in New York City when they crashed into each other.

Even though the footage shows the plane’s wing coming off, just one member of the cabin crew was hurt in the crash.

All 85 passengers were pronounced safe and brought off the plane to wait for their next flights.

The passengers have been provided food and a place to stay. The airline also said that they would be given additional flight options to rebook within a few hours.

The event is only the latest in a long line of troubles for the aviation business. The Federal Aviation Administration has cut a lot of positions under President Trump, which has made the industry even more apprehensive.

A passenger on the Endeavor flight from Charlotte to LaGuardia reported that the other jet “absolutely smashed” his plane right after it landed in New York.

“We were taxiing to our runway when another Delta jet hit us hard. I don’t know if we hit them or they hit us, but it was really jarring,” said the CBS News producer.

“It was a little chaotic; everyone sprang up in their seats. What happened shocked all of us.

After the jets halted, people and crew members could be seen on the runway.

A passenger on the flight from Charlotte to New York said it was scary when the other jet “absolutely smashed” his plane right after it landed.

One of the planes that crashed was Endeavor Air flight 5155. It was going to Roanoke, Virginia. It hit the fuselage of Endeavor Air flight 5047, which had just come in from Charlotte.

A Delta spokesperson said, “Delta will work with all relevant authorities to look into what happened because the safety of our customers and staff comes first.” “We’re sorry about what happened to our customers.”

The Daily Mail spoke with a LaGuardia Airport spokesman who said that the injured flight attendant “suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.”

Pictures obtained after the incident show that one of the plane’s noses was significantly injured.

The police saw the crew and passengers standing on the tarmac.

“The passengers got off the plane on the taxiway and were taken by bus back to Terminal C,” said the airport’s spokesperson.

“People who were on the planes that left will be put on a different flight.”

The airport was able to run normally after the tiny crash.

Whistleblowers at the Federal Aviation Administration have been warning for months about what could happen if the department eliminates jobs.

For months, people at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have been warning about what could happen if employment are cut in the department.

People are more worried about problems happening at airports across the country because of federal cuts.

In February, an aeronautical data expert who was affected by the changes told Politico, “Air traffic controllers can’t do their job without us.”

“To be honest, pilots would be flying blind without our team,” the person stated.

Earlier this year, a catastrophe at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport killed 67 people.

On January 29, there was a tragic crash in Washington, DC. On February 6, a small plane with ten people on board crashed near Alaska. On February 10, two private jets collided at the Scottsdale Airport. One passenger died and four others were hospitalized.

This year, the Daily Mail said that the FAA unit that charts risky flight obstacles, like buildings and power lines, had its staff cut down to a small number as part of the big DOGE layoffs.

People who know what’s going on are anxious that there aren’t enough cartographers keeping an eye on probable threats. This might cause planes to crash into buildings or skyscrapers as they fly over huge cities like New York or Chicago.

Before, a team of roughly 20 aeronautical information experts was in charge of keeping up a national database of the height and position of any man-made building that could impair safety.

The FAA whistleblower says that the obstacle data team is dwindled to only eight people since President Trump fired so many federal employees.

People who stay say that their resources are so stretched that they could make mistakes while giving information to pilots, airlines, and air traffic controllers, which could lead to a crash.

Someone who works there said, “A building could be shown in the wrong place or at the wrong height.”

“That’s not crazy.” We’re talking about people and planes that died.
