Kimberly was in her last year of medical residency when she learned she had metastatic sarcoma, a rare and serious form of cancer. She was 28 years old and set to start her job as a healer when she suddenly became sick. She didn’t want to keep her sickness a secret, so she talked about it in public by posting about it on Instagram and TikTok. She never wrote to make her disease sound better than it was. Kimberly made it clear that she didn’t want people to feel sorry for her; she wanted them to get to know her and connect with her. Her friends say she was witty, full of life, and loyal. She lived her life to the fullest, even while she was sick. She gave her online community hope and honesty, showing that being honest about your feelings can be a sign of strength.

When people talk about cancer in general, they don’t discuss about sarcoma very much. Kimberly’s openness about her daily life, including treatment setbacks, physical limits, good times, and personal beliefs, made the condition more visible than ever before. She did this to draw attention to a problem that requires more public attention and research funding right away. A number of people have already given money to sarcoma groups and asked for better care for patients because of her tale.
