Dances With Wolves star died on Monday at the age of 73, with his wife by his side.
There is one thing that individuals who are celebrating their love tale never agreed on.
In the Black Hills, they made commitments to each other.
Fans, Hollywood, and, most importantly, his family and friends are grieved over the passing of actor Graham Greene. The Canadian actor, who featured in movies including Dances With Wolves and The Green Mile, died on September 1, 2025, after a long battle with health issues.
He died in a Toronto hospital with Hilary Blackmore by his side. Greene’s spokesperson told the New York Post that he was “finally free.”
People liked Graham Greene’s life with his wife as much as they admired him as an actor. On December 20, 1990, they got married. People say they met while making the movie Dances With Wolves.
They got married in the hallowed Black Hills of South Dakota, not far from where Dances With Wolves was filmed, after the movie was over. Their marriage was officially recorded at Toronto City Hall on December 20, 1990.
A 1991 story in the Toronto Star indicates that Greene and Hilary actually met in 1989 while working on the play Fire at the Passe Muraille Theatre in Toronto.
Greene stated, “I threw a wrench at her out of the grid to get her attention so we could finally meet.”
Finally, the tall woman with long, strawberry-blonde hair saw him. “I don’t get why she saw me.” I was in my biker mode, with a Harley Davidson shirt and a bandana around my head.

Hilary has also acted, manufactured outfits and costumes for plays, and even sold shoes. But Graham’s career took off, so she stayed out of the way, which she claimed she had wanted to do for a time.
Greene called Hilary first to tell her that he had been nominated for an Oscar for his role as Kicking Bird, Kevin Costner’s Native American mentor.

Why Greene left Toronto
Greene lived in Toronto at first, but the city’s instability drove him away. He informed The Toronto Star that he had had enough:

Greene said, “To hell with this,” and called a friend who worked as a realtor to tell him he wanted to go to the country.
A short time later, the couple bought a lovely log cabin near Udora, which is roughly an hour north of Toronto. There was a pond and a stream on the land, which was more than 8.5 hectares. The house included 3,000 square feet of living space and a studio over the garage.
