Workers are using Reddit to talk about how bad their working conditions are. Some stories about workers at Hobby Lobby and Chick-fil-A are terrible, but one person related a horrifying story about their job at a Goodwill that has everyone talking. The item initially appeared online in late August 2020, and it has become more and more popular since then. It now has more than 81,000 upvotes on the social-sharing site.
You might change your mind about shopping at the secondhand store chain after reading what the Goodwill worker had to say. persons who are scared of catching COVID-19 should stay away from the racks, and persons who are scared of germs should stay away from the store in general. Why? The employee says that no one cleans anything in their business!
The employee remarked, “We don’t clean anything we sell at Goodwill, and we get some really gross stuff that touches everything else.” “Make sure to wash it well the next time you buy something from Goodwill.”
“I used to work at Goodwill, and you are 200% right,” said another former employee who backed up his story.
A worried consumer said, “Even before COVID, I always felt so gross after leaving there that I would wash my hands right away.”
Readers weren’t wholly shocked by this revelation, though.
“Sorry to ruin everyone’s day, but the last time I went to a thrift store, I found some really nice yoga pants…” “But the crotch was crusty,” one person said.
Someone else said, “Oh no!” You helped me recall! Why? I thought everything was clean before. Put on pants once. I didn’t know till later that the owner didn’t wear any underpants. It was disgusting. “They either wore the pants for a week straight or they really need to see a doctor.”
Someone else gave their idea for how to buy things from Goodwill.
“Goodwill?” I always wash new clothes before I wear them. People and warehouses are cruel. In this scenario, goodwill is just what you’d expect.
Someone else said to go a step further.
“Cleaning it twice makes it look good.” You have to do it anyhow most of the time, because the water from the first load… you’ll see when you try it.
Someone claimed they never wear clothes without washing them beforehand.
“Yes, you should wash any new clothes before you wear them.” It doesn’t matter if you acquired it at Goodwill or the most expensive store in the world; simply wash it because it probably came into contact with something or someone bad.
Another volunteer said they did a lot of cleaning, even though they worked at Goodwill.
“I know someone who worked for a year at a Goodwill. She said that she had never seen so much cleaning done before. Thanks to the older women who helped out as volunteers. “Everything was always clean.”
What do you think about this accusation against Goodwill? Do you suppose Goodwill washes the clothes that people give them?
