Miranda Lambert is doing a lot to aid Texas after the storms that hit the state over the Fourth of July weekend. Heavy rain came down suddenly and made the Guadalupe River rise an incredible 26 feet in just a few minutes. The accident killed 132 people, including 27 youngsters and counselors from Camp Mystic, a summer camp that many Texans loved.
As rescue efforts continue and towns slowly start to heal, there have been stories of bravery and sacrifice that have come out of the disaster. Scott Ruskan, a Coast Guard rescue swimmer, is credited with saving 165 lives by putting his own safety at risk to evacuate those who were stuck to higher ground.
Matthew Crowder, a local hero, acted quickly to help a family escape their home just before the floodwaters surged and took it away. Jeff Ramsey didn’t make it out personally, but he did warn his family to stay alive. People all around the state have been moved by these personal stories, and they are now asking for support and action.
Miranda Lambert’s answer was one of the most honest. Lambert told SiriusXM in an open interview on July 14 that she is putting together a charity event to help families who lost their homes in the floods. It was clear that she was worried and talked about how helpless she felt to see her home state suffer. “I feel like I can’t do anything,” she said. “But Texans are there for each other.” People who saw her speak were impacted by what she said because it showed the Texas spirit of friendship and determination.
There are also other people who are working hard. George Strait and Robert Earl Keen are two other well-known country music stars who have said they will play benefit shows. Josh Weathers, a rising star, has already raised nearly $430,000 through an internet campaign. Chris and Morgane Stapleton made headlines when they gave $1 million to help with relief efforts. The country music community’s outpouring of solidarity is helping to spread the word about how terrible the tragedy is and how badly help is needed right now.
In addition to the event, Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation is also aiding with the relief efforts. People know the group for assisting animals, and it has worked with Kerrville Pets Alive to save animals that were left homeless by the floods and find them new homes. They are making sure that the area’s four-legged victims are not forgotten in the midst of all the grief. They are providing emergency transportation and temporary fosters.

There will soon be more information regarding the benefit event, such as where it will be held, how to acquire tickets, and who will be performing. It’s evident that the event will be more than simply a show; it will be a place for people to get together and heal, have hope, and express their support. Fans are being asked to help in any manner they can, such as giving money to reputable relief groups, taking in displaced dogs, volunteering in their own communities, or just spreading the word.

Miranda Lambert and her fellow Texans are doing what they do best: helping each other, keeping strong, and channeling their pain into action. Things will get better, but it will take a long time. But voices like hers are already giving people hope.
