The years that followed after my family abandoned me had been a bit harsh. It was not easy to live alone and I tried to get happiness in the small things. My afternoon started out lonely, so that day I visited the supermarket and bought myself a fresh bun, something to be warm and cozy in the afternoon.
By the time I arrived at the checkout counter, I had to rummage through my purse in a bid to take out the two dollars which I had earlier saved, but to my dismay, they were missing. I was in a panic looking in my bag to find change that was loose.
The young lady in the cashier with a sharp tone and wearing a scowl on her face rolled her eyes. Come along, old woman, she said impatiently. And don,t be here wasting our time, if you can not afford it.
It was like a knife stabbing into me hearing what she was saying. It was a burden of glances of other customers and my cheeks flamed in disgrace. I was about to apologize with my mouth but could not say what I was supposed to say. As I was about to leave, I felt humiliated and tears came up.
Ere I was about to pass out of the line, a voice was heard at the latter end, loud and decisive. Pardon me, what have you said to her just now?
The whole check-out department remained quiet. The speaking man now came repeatedly forward. He was smartly dressed in suit and looked commanding.
I am sorry, sir, that is not your business, the cashier responded, and spoke hardly.

The face of the cashier paled and the arrogance was transfused into embarrassment. She nodded back and pocketed the money.

He introduced himself after giving me the bag with the bun after the purchase was made. My name is Carter, Mr. Carter, he said and shook hands with me. I should like to talk to you a minute, outside, if you don t mind.

I would like to give you a part time appointment, in case you are interested. It will also offer you an opportunity to socialize with new people and earn a few dollars on the side.
I left many tears on my pillow and these were not those of sadness. I positively accepted his offer.
That bun became a turning point that very day. Mr. The kindness of Carter did not only empower me but also gave me a second chance at life. And how does the cashier come off? To make a long story short, the manager made sure that she had enough time to think concerning her conduct.
Other times karma not only bites back, but they also come in disguise in form of blessings.
