One of the BBC anchors was reading on the autocue on air and it looks like she did not want to say one word.
There are people who have voiced their opinion since then.
The presenter of BBC News, Martine Croxall is currently thanking others on behalf of the support they have been giving.
The veteran news anchor, aged 56, said that she did not agree with the words which were being shown in the teleprompter. It occurred after she decided to abandon the script of her teleprompter last weekend.
Croxall has been employed by the BBC in the past 30 years. She chose to alter what came out of the teleprompter after she assumed her job in the year 1991.
She was reading on the autocue on the broadcast talking about those at greatest risk of heat-related illnesses in the record high temperatures in the UK.
She nearly said how pregnant people should be extra cautious during their pleasure in the warmer weather, but now being referenced to some works carried out at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical.
However, she changed her mind and replaced people with women half way through the sentence, then drew a semaphore with her eyes that she was trying to make a point.
Croxall said during the broadcast, on the one hand, Malcom Mistry, involved in the research, says, that measures should be taken by the aged, pregnant people, women, and patients with pre-existing conditions.
Social media was flooded with a discussion over the issue. J. K. Rowling who is a British author took to the post immediately supporting the anchor on X writing, “I have a new favourite BBC presenter.”
When talking about pregnant individuals, people usually say: these are pregnant people to make the matter gender neutral as there may be gender non-binary people and trans people who can be pregnant. This term is however not accepted by all people, especially those who are the most vocal with the trans people.
Croxall is very much open with her views on this topic stating that in a previous debate with a trans activist she said the following: sex is binary and immutable.
The news anchor went to social media to express her personal ideas regarding the whole situation. She stated: Huge Thanks to all who have decided to follow me today because of one reason or another. It was out of this world…”
Croxall has even mentioned that she understands that her actions may lead to some consequences and she is already prepared to have a discussion with the higher-ups, in case they choose to bring an issue against her.
That is the whole debate which is becoming the subject of the national forefront in a number of nations.
