The Shocked Doctor Is Witnessed as Newborn Baby Comes With a Contraceptive Device in the Hands of Mother
A delivery doctor was shocked and a newborn was given to a doctor because in his baby hand there was something unusual but when the photo was circulated it went viral.
The bizarre incident occurred in North Vietnam in Hai Phong International Hospital when a woman delivered a healthy baby boy even though she had been fitted with an intrauterine device (IUD) two years ago as a kind of birth control device.
To everyone surprise, the baby was delivered with the IUD and this special moment had been captured in a photo that has circulated in the internet. Although the mother has preferred to keep her identity unknown, the picture was posted by an obstetrician doctor Tran Viet Phuong, who gave birth to the child.
Dr. Phuong said, after the delivery, she saw him holding the gadget. It was a sight I found interesting and, therefore, I took a photograph of it. I did not think it would get so much attention at all.”
The miracle Baby that circumvented the odds
The 34-year-old mother had two children according to reports and thought that IUD would not impregnate her with any other child. It is however suspected that the device moved out of its position thus making it useless and enabling her to become pregnant again.
The infant weighed 3.2 kilograms (approximately 7 pounds), has been born healthy and without any complications.
Images of the baby clinging to the IUD have become an internet hit with people laughing and being amazed.
One of them wrote, on Facebook, that this baby was destined to be born.
Another had said, similar happened to one of her girl friends, whose baby was born with her IUD in the arms.
Some were glad that the contraceptive device had no ill effects to the baby once they got into the womb.
Not The First Time
Interestingly, it is not the first instance that a baby, after being born, has a failed contraceptive device in their hands.
In 2017, a U.S. mother, Lucy Hellein, made a viral post of her newborn, Dexter, who apparently grasped a Mirena implant during her Caesarian section. She has captioned it as, Mirena fail!
But later it was discovered that the photo was not staged- the device was removed during surgery and put next to the baby at birth so that the photo could be taken.
A reminder on Contraception
Two general varieties of IUDs (jet-shaped like a T) are introduced into the uterus:
Copper IUDs work as a mechanical fertilization barrier.
Hormonal IUDs, being made out of plastic and releasing hormones in order to prevent pregnancy.
Although IUDs are quite effective, there is no foolproof method; some of us are living testimony of that fact.
