Travis Kelce, a tight end with the Kansas City Chiefs, has drawn criticism for remarks he made on President Donald Trump’s attendance at the Super Bowl.
Sunday’s huge game in New Orleans will pit the Chiefs against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Trump became the first sitting president of the United States to attend the Super Bowl when he recently announced that he will be going to the game.
Speaking to a group of reporters this week, Kelce was questioned about Trump’s possible attendance at the game. This would be “pretty cool,” Kelce said.
“That’s fantastic,” he told reporters. “It’s an enormous honor.”
“This is the biggest game of my life,” Kelce continued, adding that it would be exciting to have the US president there.
It’s the biggest game of my life, and with the president there, you know, it’s the best country in the world, so I’m excited regardless of who the president is,” he remarked. “Well, that would be really awesome.”
Given that many Americans are worried about Trump’s actions since reentering the White House earlier this year, many left-leaning Americans were not pleased to hear these remarks. Swifties, however, yelled at the tight end for making this claim.
Kelce is seeing Taylor Swift, a pop sensation. Swift hasn’t been Trump’s friend lately. The relationship between the former president and the largest pop diva in the world actually deteriorated to the point where Trump posted on Truth Social, “I hate Taylor Swift.”
Swift’s endorsement of then-Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential race was the reason Trump didn’t like her.
Swift waited until after the discussion between Trump and Harris.
After giving her reasons for supporting Harris in an Instagram post, she urged her large following to make sure they were correctly registered to vote.
“I will be voting for Tim Walz and Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Swift wrote at the time. Because @kamalaharris stands up for the rights and causes that I think require a warrior to advocate them, I’m voting for her. I think she is a talented, steady-handed leader, and I think that if we are led by calm rather than chaos, we can do so much more in this nation.

Swift was swiftly criticized by Trump for this. He declared that he “was not a Taylor Swift fan” on Fox News.
Additionally, the president implied that Swift’s support of Harris will ultimately hurt her career, stating that “she’ll probably pay a price for it.”
Swift also became anti-Trump after Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, liked Trump’s 2024 Instagram posts. Swiftie indignation quickly followed. “If you want to know the truth, I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better,” Trump said.
Many Swifties objected to this incident because Swift and Mahomes appeared to have become good friends.
Since Trump has previously attacked Swift on numerous occasions, Swift supporters have now openly criticized Kelce for stating that he would be delighted to have Trump see him play in the Super Bowl. Swifties responded in the following ways:
Others have defended Kelce, pointing out that the tight end might have been responding in a way that was influenced by the media and that he was attempting to avoid being political, particularly given that Clark Hunt, the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, and his family are well-known Trump fans.
In any case, some Swifties don’t seem to have found this analysis sufficient and urge Taylor Swift to quit his relationship with a “spineless” man if he doesn’t want to defend his girlfriend. We’ll have to wait and see if this has any real implications for their relationship.
